EMST 150 with the IA 150 adapter for drug free breathing exercise to combat COPD
The EMST 150 along with the IA 150 adapter is the best breathing exerciser for your lungs to strengthen and maintain your respiratory muscle strength
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) also known as emphysema or chronic bronchitis is a progressive disorder mainly affecting the lungs. The major symptom of COPD is breathlessness (Dyspnea) caused due to the inability of the respiratory muscles to redirect the flow of air in and out of the lungs.
COPD can be developed any time and it could progress quickly depending upon the lifestyle of the individual. Pulmonary rehabilitation refers to the idea of exercising and improving/maintaing the strength of your lungs in order to prevent the quick progression of COPD. One of the key programs in pulmonary rehabilitation is the Respiratory muscle strength training (RMST). RMST is an umbrella term which involves both Inspiratory muscle strength training (IMST) & Expiratory muscle strength training (EMST). Performing RMST helps to slow the weakening of the respiratory muscles and improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from COPD.
The IA 150 adapter is an essential tool which, coupled with the EMST 150 or the EMST 75 Lite, serves as a breathing exerciser for your lungs. Being the most important part of RMST, IMST helps individuals with COPD achieve greater respiratory strength and a better quality of life – as indicated in this study. Furthermore, it also improves the cognitive function and increases the diaphragmatic thickness which increases airflow to the lungs.
According to this research article, IMST not just improves the maximum inspiratory pressure i.e the maximum air inhaled in one breath, it also reduces breathlessness (Dyspnea) by increasing the respiratory muscle growth. Therefore, including IMST as a daily exercise regime with the IA 150 adapter can help you combat COPD and achieve a greater quality of life.

Customers Testimonials
“This is very helpful with improving deep breathing skills from the stomach area along with the lungs. Great strengthening aide for speech and volume of speech.”
Mary
“It is easy to use. My speech therapist advised me to use this device as an exercise to help in my swallowing and speech therapy (a result of my Parkinson’s disease). It is easy to use, sturdy, and effective. I did find it hard to blow through it at first but applying the correct amount of effort solved that problem (that must be why they call me a “blow-hard”). I continue to use it several times each day to continue strengthening the muscles I use in swallowing and speech.”

“Speech therapist recommended this unit for a family member, who had a stroke, to use to strengthen his vocal cords. It’s actually working. Yeah! Great for developing muscle strength.”

“My speech pathologist recommended the EMST and is following a course of action with me.
The purpose of using this EMST for me is to strengthen my diaphragm to improve my cough strength. I have very early Parkinson’s Disease, which includes a weakened voice box (also being worked on) that all too often results in liquid or solid material entering my windpipe and potentially lungs. I’ve only used the EMST for two weeks, but I do feel some improvement. I plan to continue using this device for weeks, months, or years should that be necessary.
As far as product quality, it is made of solid materials, fits together well, and the adjustment (which my pathologist does) seems linear and repeatable.
I do not use the nose clip nor hold my jaw as prescribed in the video. Those steps may be necessary for some people, though..”
